Introductory workshop about the project - - Late August/Early September Obtain principal and parent permission to conduct project. Find a language arts or social studies teacher who will agree to work with you on the project. Try to have these tasks complete by mid-September. Workshop preparatory to implementing the curriculum in classrooms - - Mid-September Randomly assign students in each class to either a "Succeeding in School" group or a control group (e.g., in a class of 30 students, 15 should be in the "Succeeding in School" group and 15 in the control group). Try to have this task complete by mid-September Administer pre-tests to students (i.e., "Learning How to Succeed in School" and "Attitude Toward School"). Have teachers complete pre-behavior rating scale on students. Try to have these tasks complete by late September. Conduct the 10 sessions of "Succeeding in School" beginning the first week of October and finishing during the first week of December. Be sure to keep notes about each session. Workshop to deal with questions about program implementation - - Early November. All pre-tests will be collected during this workshop. Administer post-tests to students (i.e., "Learning How to Succeed in School" and "Attitude Toward School"). Have teachers complete post-behavior rating scale on students10. Try to have these tasks complete by mid-December. All post-tests will be collected prior to the Christmas holidays. Data will be analyzed and a report of results prepared by early March. Final workshop about the project involving discussion of results - - Late March
