About the Author

Edwin R. Gerler, Jr. is a Professor in the Department of Educational Research, Leadership, and Counselor Education at NC State University. He is the past Associate Dean for Research and External Affairs in the College of Education and Psychology. He has written extensively, served as editor-in-chief of two national counseling journals, and co-produced a film on elementary school counseling. He is also the founding co-editor of the online publication, "Meridian: A Middle School Computer Technologies Journal." He currently serves as editor of the Journal of School Violence. His books include "School Counseling for the 21st Century," "Handbook of School Violence," "Counseling the Young Learner," "Elementary School Counseling in a Changing World," and "The Challenge of Counseling in Middle Schools." He has been a teacher, counselor, and consultant in schools throughout the United States.
