Perspectives on Prevention in School Counseling One of our counselor education interns in a large, public high school wrote the following in the final report about her internship: “There were four counselors at my internship school. Each of them were able to lead SELF BUILDING sessions for students in about three classrooms during the semester of my internship. I observed some of the sessions; the counselors were well received, and the kids seemed to be very involved in the sessions. Interestingly, many kids were quite self disclosing during the sessions. After one of the best sessions (with a class of seniors about ready to graduate), I asked the counselor who led the session how she felt about leading these kinds of classroom group activities. She responded that she would like to spend most of her time doing prevention and development classes with kids." What do you think about the counselor's response to the intern? |
