Perspectives on Consultation in School Counseling

One of our new graduate students told us that she became interested in school counseling because of the changes that occurred in her childhood family after a school counselor consulted with her stepfather. Her stepfather apparently had no idea how to overcome the animosity he was creating as part of his new family; the counselor worked with him to improve his interactions at home, particularly with the new children he was trying to parent.
