Step 1 - - Inventing a School Counseling Program

 

We want to give you the opportunity to create the foundation for an innovative school counseling program. You will walk yourself through five steps - - the last step will be an opportunity to share your ideas with school counselors all over the world. Completing all five steps may take two or three weeks (or longer). Take your time. Invention takes patience - - not easy for most of us in a fast-paced, electronic world.

Here in step 1 we suggest that you open your favorite word processing program (for example, microsoft word) and begin to write ideas about what you want your school counseling program to be. Some of you may prefer to write your ideas on a scratch pad or in a journal instead of using a word processing program. You may also want to write your ideas over the period of a few days.

Exercise your imagination. Be inventive. Write your ideas as they come to you. Please do not discard anything you write - - whether you write your ideas electronically or on paper.

Keep all your ideas together in a convenient place.

When you are reasonably (not perfectly) satisfied with the ideas you have written, move to step 2.
